We wanted this play to be a fantastic ride right from the top; aspects of horror, multiple puppetry techniques, live music and effects take the audience through a beautiful and darkly atmospheric world. Using theatrical magic, we delve into issues that are shadowy and hard to grasp; generational trauma, mental health, and the concept of ancestral home. This multi-disciplinary ride conjures the ghosts howling in our haunted bodies.
The multiple puppetry techniques featured in We Go Mad include cinematic shadow play, modified bunraku, and object manipulation to bring this enchanted world to life. This take on gothic romance and the haunted house genre is put on its head by playwright Amy Escobar.
